The Dream

Which of us hasn't had the dream of a home in the country, a cottage or larger home, surrounded by nature, beautiful gardens, tranquility and contentment? A more complete and higher quality of life?

In Britain, the dream will surely remain just that for many. Exorbitant prices, limited supply and competition for the same property make the dream unattainable for all but the extremely affluent.

Fortunately, with a little persistence, flexibility, and patience, the dream CAN be obtained within budget.

Country Life

There are many, many idyllic country properties still available at affordable prices in Bulgaria. Due to popularity of the destination, more airlines are now flying to Bulgaria and flight prices are coming down. Sliven is just over an hour's drive from Bourgas airport and budget airlines are already beginning to establish their routes here. Soon it will be possible to pop over for the weekend without breaking the bank.

Over the next few weeks we will feature various villages around the city of Sliven, as well the the city itself. Each village has its own very definite character and feel and preferences are very much an individual matter. This is why it is a good idea and a very pleasurable experience to visit the region. We hope we've rekindled your dreams and will do our utmost to help make them attainable for you!

Which is the Most Popular Village?

The most popular (and expensive) village, Zheravna, is only a short drive away from Sliven and is on the way to the famous town of Kotel. Zheravna is a very traditional village, highly prized among affluent Bulgarians and foreign investors. Many tourists come here during the summer months and during the Christmas season. Several excellent restaurants provide wonderful traditional food. Properties in this popular village will cost from around 100,000 Euros and are rising. They are also in short supply. However, just a few kilometers away are the beautiful villages of Neikovo (pictures featured in this article) and Ichera. Neikovo also has many traditional homes and with prices currently much lower. A small river cuts through the centre of the village, creating a tree-lined avenue a the heart, the scenery is breathtaking, and it is definitely a wonderful place to have a holiday retreat. Some villages have a tranquil healing power all their own, Neikovo is such a village. We predict this village will become similarly popular due to it's natural beauty, and proximity to Zheravna and Sliven.

Neikovo

Neikovo is surrounded by mountains and is ideal for hiking, fishing, hunting and in the winter there is skiing and snow boarding at the Sliven ski slope. It is approximately one and a half hour's drive from the coast, Turkey and Greece. All homes are built on a slope either side of the river, and the views from most of the properties are beautiful. The villagers are friendly and helpful and you will find this to be a truly traditional Bulgarian village with wonderful old world charm. The best thing to do is come and see for yourself, it will most certainly steal your heart!
